SkyView 7.1 Update Adds European Chart Support - December 2013
DYNON SKYVIEW 7.1 UPDATE ADDS EUROPEAN CHART SUPPORT WITH LAUNCH PARTNER POCKETFMS
Woodinville, WA, December 4th, 2013 - Dynon announces SkyView Version 7.1, adding support for European charts. In addition to VFR and IFR procedure charts and airport diagrams, European chart subscriptions include the visual approach, landing, and area charts that European pilots need to navigate effectively near airports.
Our launch partner is PocketFMS, who already provides digital aviation (AeroData) databases for SkyView customers in Europe. Charts from PocketFMS are available to all customers with a full PocketFMS Frequent Flyer membership. Frequent Flyer membership costs €150 per year and includes AeroData, charts (including Pooleys for the UK), airport diagrams, and visual approach charts. This is only €31 more than the existing SkyView AeroData-only subscription (which remains available). Additionally, if you are a PocketFMS AeroData subscriber as of the release of European charts prior to Dec 2013, your account will be upgraded to a Frequent Flyer subscription for the duration of your existing subscription. Note that neither German DFS Visual Approach charts nor Swiss SkyGuide VFR Plates are included in this price. But, they are available at additional cost.
With European chart availability much less centralized than it is in the US, Dynon supports multiple European chart data vendors so customers can choose the solution that best works for their region. Seattle Avionics, already a US SkyView chart provider, expects to have their European charting solution available in the coming weeks. European ChartData subscriptions from Seattle Avionics will cost €199, and will also exclude German DFS charts.
SkyView 7.1 is available December 2013, as a FREE upgrade for existing SkyView customers, from our website. Additional information about European chart subscription options is also available.

SkyView System Technical Service Bulletin
Dynon Avionics has released a service bulletin and software update to fix a software vulnerability in SkyView version 7.0 software. This vulnerability is an extreme corner case and would be hard to encounter while flying. However, because this vulnerability can cause a SkyView display to stop responding, we have decided to release version 7.0.1 with an immediate fix.
The conditions that would cause this bug require ALL the following to be true:
In a multiple display system, only the display being used with the Map Pointer will be affected when this bug is encountered. The remaining display(s) and system components continue to work normally. Also, the documented procedure of pressing buttons 1/2/5 simultaneously to restart SkyView will fully recover an affected display.
Please see the full service bulletin for a full description of this issue, and to see if this update applies to you. Though updating your software to 7.0.1 is not mandatory, it is highly recommended.

- are not currently seeing the airspace altitude overlaid on the TFR because you are zoomed too far out for it to be displayed within the TFR.

New D2 Pocket Panel Portable EFIS - Adds Wi-Fi and G-Meter
One year ago we announced the first completely portable backup EFIS, the Dynon D1 Pocket Panel. One flight with the D1 and you'll agree with Stephen Pope in October 2012's issue of Flying Magazine: "The D1, I've decided, is perhaps the perfect emergency backup flight display." Whether you regularly fly your own aircraft, rent aircraft, or ferry them, if they are equipped with the latest in avionics or not, we think the D1 should be in your flight bag.
This year at AOPA Expo we introduce our second Pocket Panel, the D2. Like the D1, the D2 is designed to be used by ALL pilots in practically any aircraft. The D2 has all of the capabilities of the D1, and adds Wi-Fi connectivity to external tablet and phone-based apps. This lets those apps receive attitude, GPS ground speed, altitude, Gs, and GPS ground track directly from the D2. The D2 also features a second display page with a graphical round dial G-Meter, showing both the current load factor and the minimum and maximum G's since the pilot's last reset.
The D1 and D2 both utilize the same Dynon MEMS-based AHRS technology that has made Dynon the leading supplier of EFIS (Electronic Flight Information Systems) in experimental and Light Sport Aircraft. Both products are true artificial horizons with accurate pitch and roll, and can find the horizon even if turned on in flight. The AHRS sensors also drive a turn rate indicator and slip/skid ball. Included is an internal GPS receiver to display GPS ground speed, altitude, vertical speed, and ground track.
Now pilots can fly with the D2 perfectly placed on their panel, and their copilot or tandem seat has all that information on their phone or tablet device, without the cost of a second, permanent-mount remote AHRS unit. The D2's compatible applications include the WingX Pro7, AOPA FlyQ, BendixKing myWingMan, iHUD Remote, and Air Navigation Pro.

New D2 Pocket Panel Introduced - October 2013
DYNON ANNOUNCES NEW D2 POCKET PANEL PORTABLE EFIS, NEW LOWER D1 PRICE
Woodinville, WA, OCTOBER 7th, 2013 – Dynon introduces the D2, a second model to the Pocket Panel product line, the true attitude indicators that can be used by ALL pilots. The new D2 adds Wi-Fi connectivity to allow flight data to be sent to popular iPad, smart phone, and tablet aviation applications, and has a second screen with a G-Meter. The D2 retails for $1,425, and the original D1 has a new lower price of $1,195.
Wi-Fi connectivity allows attitude and GPS ground speed, altitude, G’s, and ground track to be sent from the D2 in real-time to an aviation application, which can then show that data on a flight information display. Compatible applications include the WingX Pro7, AOPA FlyQ, BendixKing myWingMan, iHUD Remote, and Air Navigation Pro.
The D2’s second page G-Meter shows a graphical round dial with the current load factor shown by a needle, plus it records the minimum and maximum G’s since being last reset by the pilot.

At only 3½” wide, 3¼” high, and 1” thick, the D1 and D2 are truly portable. They feature batteries that will last over four hours on a charge, and comes with two portable mounting options. The first is a RAM® suction cup mount, and the second is 3 ⅛” portable “pinch” mount that allows the D1/D2 to be easily mounted in an empty existing instrument panel hole.
Accessories included with the D1 and D2 are an AC power adapter, a DC vehicle power adaptor, a RAM® suction cup mount, 3 ⅛” portable “pinch” mount, internal Li-Ion battery, and external GPS antenna.
D2 Pocket Panels will be available starting October 6th, 2013, directly from Dynon and through Dynon authorized dealers. Aircraft Spruce and Pacific Coast will have D2s for sell at the AOPA Summit in Ft. Worth Texas, or come by Dynon Booth 1732 to experience the D2 first hand.
