The Dynon Channel: Using the Autopilot Simplified Control Scheme

In this video we provide step-by-step instructions on how to enable and control the autopilot using SkyView's Simplified Control Scheme. This control scheme is ideal for VFR flying that doesn't require the more complex modes that our IFR-centric Expert Control Scheme offers.

The Dynon Channel: Introduction to Autopilot

Watch Dynon Sales Manager Kirk Kleinholz, CFII, briefly introduce the new features and controls for SkyView's integrated dual axis autopilot.

Did You Know? Using the Autopilot - Simplified Control Scheme

Operating SkyView’s integrated autopilot is extraordinarily easy when using the Simplified control scheme.

Behind the Panel: Dynon Products aren't that "Experimental"

Offering a product line for amatuer-builders and LSA aircraft allows us to deliver updates fairly frequently. These days, SkyView sees about 3 or 4 substantial feature updates a year - a pretty quick cycle for any product. But despite the fact that your aircraft may be “experimental”, we don’t think the avionics in your aircraft should be. There are a lot of things that happen “behind the panel” at Dynon to ensure you have the best-possible experience we can deliver...

European Chart Support Launches with SkyView 7.1 and PocketFMS

We're excited to announce the release of SkyView Version 7.1, which adds support for European charts. In addition to VFR and IFR procedure charts and airport diagrams, European chart subscriptions include the visual approach, landing, and area charts that European pilots need to navigate effectively near airports.

SkyView 7.1 Update Adds European Chart Support - December 2013

DYNON SKYVIEW 7.1 UPDATE ADDS EUROPEAN CHART SUPPORT WITH LAUNCH PARTNER POCKETFMS

Woodinville, WA, December 4th, 2013 - Dynon announces SkyView Version 7.1, adding support for European charts. In addition to VFR and IFR procedure charts and airport diagrams, European chart subscriptions include the visual approach, landing, and area charts that European pilots need to navigate effectively near airports.
Our launch partner is PocketFMS, who already provides digital aviation (AeroData) databases for SkyView customers in Europe. Charts from PocketFMS are available to all customers with a full PocketFMS Frequent Flyer membership. Frequent Flyer membership costs €150 per year and includes AeroData, charts (including Pooleys for the UK), airport diagrams, and visual approach charts. This is only €31 more than the existing SkyView AeroData-only subscription (which remains available). Additionally, if you are a PocketFMS AeroData subscriber as of the release of European charts prior to Dec 2013, your account will be upgraded to a Frequent Flyer subscription for the duration of your existing subscription. Note that neither German DFS Visual Approach charts nor Swiss SkyGuide VFR Plates are included in this price. But, they are available at additional cost.
With European chart availability much less centralized than it is in the US, Dynon supports multiple European chart data vendors so customers can choose the solution that best works for their region. Seattle Avionics, already a US SkyView chart provider, expects to have their European charting solution available in the coming weeks. European ChartData subscriptions from Seattle Avionics will cost €199, and will also exclude German DFS charts.
SkyView 7.1 is available December 2013, as a FREE upgrade for existing SkyView customers, from our website. Additional information about European chart subscription options is also available.
Founded in 2000, Dynon Avionics is the leading manufacturer of avionics for Experimental and Light Sport Aircraft. Continuing a tradition started with the introduction of their first Electronic Flight Information System “glass panel”, Dynon is committed to developing innovative and high-quality avionics integrating the newest technology as it develops at affordable prices for all pilots.

SkyView System Technical Service Bulletin

Dynon Avionics has released a service bulletin and software update to fix a software vulnerability in SkyView version 7.0 software. This vulnerability is an extreme corner case and would be hard to encounter while flying. However, because this vulnerability can cause a SkyView display to stop responding, we have decided to release version 7.0.1 with an immediate fix.

The conditions that would cause this bug require ALL the following to be true:
  1. You are in the US, and,
  2. have an SV-ADSB-470 connected, and,
  3. are actively selecting a TFR with the Map Pointer, and,
  4. have re-enabled the display of airspace altitudes on the map (this display option is set to off in 7.0 by default with the new improved Map Pointer that provides more verbose airspace altitude information), but,
  5. are not currently seeing the airspace altitude overlaid on the TFR because you are zoomed too far out for it to be displayed within the TFR.

In a multiple display system, only the display being used with the Map Pointer will be affected when this bug is encountered. The remaining display(s) and system components continue to work normally. Also, the documented procedure of pressing buttons 1/2/5 simultaneously to restart SkyView will fully recover an affected display.

Please see the full service bulletin for a full description of this issue, and to see if this update applies to you. Though updating your software to 7.0.1 is not mandatory, it is highly recommended.
